Obituary of John William (Bill) Stage

Town of Northumberland, NY John William (Bill) Stage left this earth after a long illness on Thursday, April 23, 2015. Born in Washington, PA on January 27, 1936, son of the late Chester and Florence Stage. Two sisters, Mae Garrett and Marge Wiszczor are also deceased. Bill met and married his wife of 60 years in Washington and raised 8 children. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Byrnes) Stage and a great brood of children who loved him dearly. Joyce and Bill retired to Gansevoort, New York where Joyce lives today. Bill had the heart of an artist and worked as a Meat Manager for Giant Eagle Markets in Pittsburgh, PA. Bill is survived by children: Michael Stage, Mary Ann Stage-Krautheim, Diane Stage-Fowler, Kathleen Stage-Kern, John Stage, James Stage, Sherry Stage-Jewell and Patrick Stage. Bill was extremely proud of all of his children whom he taught to be hardworking, loving and encouraged each to become their best selves. Bill was also a loving grandfather leaving behind 14 well accomplished grandchildren. Bill will be missed by all friends and family who loved him well. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Therese Chapel, Junction of Route 32 and Wilton Gansevoort Road, Gansevoort. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
